It's Been So Damned HOT!!

that I think the fire started from spontaneous combustion from temps passing 110. Forecast for tomorrow: 112 here, 117 in Palm Springs. Yuck-O.

I guess the only thing worse would be sitting in New Orleans today and tomorrow. Double Yuck-O

North Palm Springs Fire:
"Over 300 Firefighters are working to contain a brush fire burning in northern Palm Springs that started Friday evening.
The fire has consumed over 1500 acres burning in the Blaisdell Canyon area just south of Windy Point.

Fire officials say a campfire in the canyon was the cause of the brushfire.
Currently there are voluntary evacuations for residents.
The California Highway Patrol has shutdown Highway111 between Interstate 10 and Tramway Road.
The Palm Springs Tramway has shut down as a precaution."

Violent Storm!

Came through around 4pm with howling winds and slashing rain. It was scarey although I knew it was coming as I was watching radar and saw this huge front from Barstow to Blythe coming fast from Lake Havasu.

After the storm the rainbow, and then everything turned yellow. Thought my contacts were compromised until I took photos and sure enough everything was yellowish. eerie.

After days and days of just huge cumulus clouds coming almost all the way overhead, finally yesterday we had some rain. It was great, and the skies were dark all over for hours. (see photos)

*remember when you had to buy film, load the damned camera, then take the film to be processed, pay a lot of $$$, bring the photos home .... or look at them in the car if you couldn't wait to get home, which I usually couldn't, then only to be disappointed that out of the 24 or 36, only two or three were what you really liked or hoped for. Then off to your friend's houses to share the three good ones, or in lieu of that, bore them silly with ALL of them... One of the marvels of the internet is how it drastically reduces the time it takes to bore you friends and associates silly with all your photos.

I'm only kidding, I really love getting photos in my emails, but I like sending them better. Especially large files of over 1.5 meg to my best friends on dial-up connections. I too am on dial up, as there are no dsl connections here in the boonies, so the only alternative is that overly high priced direcway that the disgusting redhead on direct tv is always touting. That ad irritates me more than any other ..almost. Wonder why that is? Am I the only one? I think that ad in and of it'self is attributable in part anyway, to my ongoing resistance to pop the 60 bucks a month they want for the service.

Anyway, the fact is......hmmmm, I forgot what the fact was....got off on a tangent, but it'll come back to me. Tune in later, right now I'm off to clean cages of my darling feather kids.
